Elaborate Beaded Mummy shroud net A fine Egyptian mummy shroud net made of small faience beads, restrung in an original arrangement in slightly reduced size, comprising a facial mask, winged pectoral scarab below which representations of the four Sons of Horus: Imsety, Duamutef, Hapi, and Qebehsenuef. Such mask would have been placed over the face of the deceased at their burial, in a similar manner to the better-known cartonnage mummy masks. This arrangement is unusual: more often the winged scarab and the Four Sons of Horus were part of a larger bead net placed upon the deceased's upper and mid body. Shrouds of this type became popular in the Late Dynastic Period all the way through the Ptolemaic period. 235mm long In very fine condition The beads are Late Dynastic Period circa 500 BC Ex Mariaud de Serres collection, Paris 1980-90s. See photo of similar from the Rijksmuseum Leiden.
