Very fine Celtic La Tene bronze spiral Most likely from a multiple spiral brooch as shown. Of really very superior quality and with a wonderful glossy dark green patina. Has old collection label stuck on it. Intact, still "springy" and with a nice glossy patina 72mm diameter Difficult to date precisely, but probably Middle La Tene circa 450 BC Ex Gawain McKinley collection in France and later in the Peter Sharrer collection. ................................. This comes originally from a collection of Celtic artefacts found in the late 19th century at Chatelaudren in the Cotes-d'Armor (Brittany) which is an ancient core area for the Celtic tribes. The pieces came to London in the early 1900s and were in the collection of Gawain McKinley in France. If the information is reliable, and one can only go on the old labels stuck on some of the objects, then these pieces may well be from the Coriosolites tribe of the Armorican Celts. Middle La Tene circa mid 3rd cent BC
