A good sized fragment from a wooden sarcophagus with painted hieroglyphs, being part of an offering formula which mentions alabaster and linen and the "Ka" of the deceased Pegs and holes in its side which joined this part plank to the next one. Good condition wood. Very clear hieroglyphs. Well mounted on a polished metal stand. Approx 350 mm x 120mm Egyptian Late Period, possibly early Ptolemaic. Ex Australian collection, then UK collection
