This a quite rare stamped Roman legionary brick with stamp of Cohort IV Vindelicorum of the Roman auxiliary forces, circa 1st-3rd century AD.
The right side of the circular stamp with "COH IIII" is clear; the left side less clear, but says "VINDEL".
Cohort IV Vindelicorum was stationed in Germania Superior (capital was Mainz) and they occupied the fort Grosskrotzenburg by the 3rd century AD.
Approx 17mm x 175mm x 45mm. Ex USA collection, ex Cecil Best (1882-1973) collection, London.
