In all the years I have been a collector I have never before come across a Hyksos cylinder seal and I cannot recall ever seeing one on the market. This is not a pretty thing but it's extremely rare. A small cylinder seal in a blue stone which looks like lapis but I'm not entirely certain that it is. Showns two internally hatched standing figures, a ureaus cobra and a lion vertically disposed and the typical Hyksos ANRE inscription. Quite worn and makes only a feint impression in plasticine. 17mm x 6mm Hyksos/15th dynasty. circa 1600 BC. Ex Israeli collection. Said to have been found in Egypt. The green stuff on the seal is a little plasticine!
