This type of pottery, called "thin walled ware" was produced mainly in Roman Republican times in central Italy and in Sicily. This is a good example of the stippled red type. It is extremely delicate and does not often survive other than in multiple fragments. This one is recomposed having lost two large fragments which have been glued back in: this could be reversed and the repair done better I think!
