A Roman bronze military belt plate, a really fabulous piece, with much of the silvery tinning remaining on it creating an almost mirror like effect. In open work there are a pair of rather strange rampant mythological animals.

58 mm x 42 mm

Found in Eastern Europe.

Probably 2nd/3rd century.
